its been a LONG time!

Sorry it has been so long since the last post. We have been really busy and also a lot of things have been happening...
We need prayers for Richard to find a new job, and prayers for me as I try to start something new! Just a heads up, when both of those get going we will let you know! I PROMISE!
But William is growing like CRAZY! He is about 32 inches long, 24 pounds and I am sure his head is getting bigger too because he is SOOOO smart. We love him, and love that he is growing so quickly. But we are also feeling like we don't get to see everything he is growing so fast.
BUT HE IS CRAWLING! Yes, he definitely is! Last night he officially did it, whereas before he was doing the army crawl (and believe me he could get around like that just fine). But now he is moving his arms and legs without his tummy touching the ground.
We are going to a doctors appointment next Monday for his 9 month appointment and we will get all the "sure" measurements. But we are so happy for him and we can't get enough of him.
He has been having fun this last week with halloween stuff.

Nanna (Grandma Wilson) sent us a package with shirts in them. And William loves his "Mum's the Word" shirt!

On Sunday we carved pumpkins with Cousin Kyle and we had a big enough pumpkin to try something fun. William wasn't the biggest fan but he happened to give us a smile.

And last night we went to a Halloween party at the Care Center that I use to work at. He had fun there, and everyone thought he was super cute!

That is what we have been up to and I will update again soon! I promise!

ward swim party

We had a ward swim party on Saturday at the community pool. It was way fun. And William loved the water. They have a big pool and then they have a kiddie recreation area, where the water is shallow and there are fun "toys" to play with. We got William all sun-screened up and went out into the water and it got super windy! I hate the wind, especially when you are trying to swim. William was loving the water, as long as we blocked him from the wind. But his lips started turning blue so we had to get out of the water.

I think part of the reason he looks scared is because he is cold. I just wish it would have been warmer, because this is the first time he really enjoyed the water at a pool, and it was FREEZING. I guess there is always next summer.

Sitting UP!

Yes, William is sitting up WELL on his own. Yeay for my little boy! We are so proud of you.

Disclaimer: Pictures show him on the couch. Don't worry, I don't just let him sit on the couch by himself. He is on the floor if I can't watch him, it was just easier to take his picture while he was on the couch!

Rodeo...and lunch with friends!

So last weekend, we went to the Ute Stampede Rodeo down in Nephi, Utah. It was a blast. We saw barrel racing, bronco and bull riding, motorcycles, funny clowns...etc, etc, etc. We really enjoyed ourselves. And we enjoyed seeing Christi and Patrick and their 5 kids. Thanks to the Franks for inviting us! We had a blast!!!

I know this picture isn't too great, but I couldn't get a closer one. Sorry! But it proves we were there!

And yes! Despite the noise, William was able to fall asleep.

Last weekend I was also able to see my friend Annie and her fiance, and we had lunch with them on Saturday. That was fun, and exciting to see them. They will be getting married in less than a month.
And we also had dinner with Josh and Michelle on Sunday. Our hometown friends! Thanks to them for a wonderful dinner and fun times. They are our new babysitters! haha!

Thanks to everyone for all the fun, we had a great weekend, something we needed. And william had a lot of firsts! First rodeo, first time meeting Annie, and first time in his new carrier! (Pictures to follow!) He is getting so heavy these days that we are starting to carry him in this front or back pack. It is so fun! And William LOVES it!

a toofer!

My baby boy, oh, my baby boy! He got his first tooth today! Yesterday it was trying, trying so hard to poke through and today, sure enough! There it is! Very small corner of his tooth poking through his gums!
No wonder he has been loving his chew toys (sounds bad, like a dog or something)...but that is what it is! He has been drooling, he has been up-chucking, he has been more fussy than usual (but is still a very happy boy).
And tonight he is sleeping, thanks to Infant Motrin!
My baby's first toof! his toofer is poking through! My growing boy. My good growing boy. My good little growing boy. My happy good little growing boy! You are the best! I love you!
**Sorry I don't have pictures! I couldn't get any good ones of just the corner. When it comes in more, I will post pictures of his FIRST tooth!!!**

new trick

He LOVES to stick his tongue out at us. It's his new favorite thing. Especially when I try to kiss him. "No more kisses for mommy!" I believe that is what he is saying to himself as he is doing it.

ming ming

My friend Jenn just got a new dog. A cute little yorkie. She has always wanted one, and the opportunity presented itself and she got one for a VERY GOOD price. He was the runt of the litter, so he is extra small. He is so cute. They named him Ming Ming.
William has a little experience with cats (except we gave ours away, since he kept jumping up into William's crib), but he has had NO experience with dogs. THIS WAS A FIRST! We put Ming Ming up on William's lap and he was snuggling up to the bubby. He loved the warmth of William, so he just laid down and slept on William's lap. William loved it.
So in these pictures he just looks like a black and brown spot! But cute none-the-less.

We love this little dog. And we also love that we get to leave him at Jenn's and go home at the end of the day!

SOLIDS...well, at least solid for the baby!

So on Monday (June 14) we started William on solids. The pediatrician told us last monday at our appointment that we could start him on cereal if he was acting like he wasn't getting enough food. I think he was doing okay, but some days would be better than others, as far as him getting enough to eat. So I decided to start with the cereal, so that by the time he really does need it, he will be more use to it. Many of my friends told me it might take 1-2 weeks for him to really attach to it.
We decided to start with oatmeal and mixed it with infant juice. We started with pear juice.
Here are some fun pictures of him on his "first attempt"!

He wouldn't look at the camera, but he kept grabbing the container with the cereal in it, and kept trying to stick his fingers in it. I don't know how I would have done this if I didn't have Richard here to help me.
He went for that first bite, like his life depended on it! (I think he mostly went for it, because it was something to put in his mouth).

This picture doesn't capture the moment as well as it happened, but he DID NOT like the cereal at first. He spit it out (which I think part of that had to do with the fact that it was different and he didn't really know how to swallow it).

Then he locked his lips and wouldn't take anymore.

And kept making funny faces and ate maybe a total of one spoonful!
second attempt!!

So we tried again last night, I was going to make less than 1 Tbsp (which is what I made the night before), because he didn't want it last night. I didn't want to waste more. But I felt like I should actually make more. So I did. I made about 2 Tbsp.
I am sad we didn't get pictures of him eating it, but I don't think that would have given you a good enough idea of how much he loved this oatmeal. But here are some "after" shots!

He had it all over, because every time I got close to his mouth with the spoon he freaked out (excitedly) and charged for the spoon and I didn't always aim it well enough to get it into his mouth.

And there is his empty oatmeal cup. I can't believe that he ate that much and as fast as he did. And I can't believe he liked it so much after only his second attempt. We will see how it goes tonight!
