kids do the darndest things

William loves to roll around, it is his way to get around right now, since he hasn't learned to crawl quite yet. But this is a whole new trick.

He wrapped himself up like a taco. Richard said he looked kinda like a turtle. But he was so cute. And he did it so quickly we didn't even notice what he was doing until he was all wrapped up in the blanket that he was laying on!
Kids DO the darndest things!!! It made us laugh.

sunday nap with dad

Taking a nap with dad, while mom was doing Visiting Teaching. SO precious. William loves snuggling up to Richard. He does it almost every morning while I am getting ready. I love my 2 boys!

ward swim party

We had a ward swim party on Saturday at the community pool. It was way fun. And William loved the water. They have a big pool and then they have a kiddie recreation area, where the water is shallow and there are fun "toys" to play with. We got William all sun-screened up and went out into the water and it got super windy! I hate the wind, especially when you are trying to swim. William was loving the water, as long as we blocked him from the wind. But his lips started turning blue so we had to get out of the water.

I think part of the reason he looks scared is because he is cold. I just wish it would have been warmer, because this is the first time he really enjoyed the water at a pool, and it was FREEZING. I guess there is always next summer.

Our Trip to California

So, since I didn't post while I was in California, you get all of our Cali adventures in one post (because it seems funny to me to do separate ones of all the different things all in one day). Anyway, here it is. I know it is long. You can read what you want, only look at the pics, or don't look at them at all. I provided headings for the different things, so you can skip if you want. Okay, enough of all that. Enjoy!

STARTING OUT:
I went to Cali with my friend Jenn, and her three kids. Bauer (13), Bailey (8), and Jaxon (3). These are the same kids that I babysit at home in Utah.
We drove to St. George on Friday night, the 13th, yes it was Friday the 13th, don't worry, nothing bad happened! We stayed with my sister-in-law and we left about 6:00 am on Saturday morning.

ON OUR WAY TO CALI FROM ST. GEORGE:
We enjoyed the drive! hahaha...okay, when I stop laughing I will continue.
We were going to meet my family at the beach, but my dad called and said it was far to cold to go to the beach. So we just went home and planned to go swimming at the cooks house. The kids had these cool wireless headsets to listen to the TV in the car with. They put some one William, and of course it was natural for him. He didn't try to take them off, he just listened and watched the TV. He is his dad's son for sure!

We got to my parents house, and got our swim suits on, and went over to the cooks about 2:00.

SWIMMING AT THE COOKS:
I put William in his new swim suit and hat, and his BYU T-shirt. And of course I put a swim diaper on him. Cute little boy. He loved it. The pool water was a little cold, so we hung out in the "hot" tub. It was more like a "warm" tub. I think it reminded William of his bath water, and he LOVES baths.

Look how cute his outfit is!

Jaxon did something that scared the tar out of us. He usually has his life jacket on, and he was LOVING the pool, jumping in and splashing. Well he was playing musical chairs and they had taken his life jacket off so that he could play. He won, and naturally got so excited, and he ran and jumped into the deep end! WITHOUT HIS LIFE JACKET! Of course Dave was right there and jumped in and got him before he even knew anything went wrong. Oh, but we were all ready to jump in.

FOOTBALL THAT ASHLEY GAVE HIM FROM JERSEY MIKE'S SUBS:
Ashley Cook works at Jersey Mike's Subs down there in Santa Clarita, and we were there at the Cook's swimming when she got home from work. She brought William a little plastic football. It is one of his favorite toys now.

He was enjoying playing with the football and would occasionally push it into the hot tub and watch it float, then whine because he wanted it back. So funny!

WILLIAM AND DAVE:
nuff said!
A natural grandpa, Josh better get on it! hehe! Thanks for putting him to sleep Dave.

NAP AT HOME WITH HIS FOOTBALL:
When we got home from the Cook's we had some things we needed to get done, so I put William on the floor in our room, with some of his toys. This is how I found him about 30 minutes later. Sleeping with his football! Daddy would be so proud.

SUNDAY:
I love Sunday's with my family. Jenn and her kids went to Disneyland on Sunday, so William and I stayed home and just enjoyed relaxing with the fam. My family had Stake Conference, and Colby was speaking. He was really nervous, but I knew he would do great. He did make us a little nervous when he walked off the stand just before he was suppose to speak. But he was just being an errand boy for the stake president.
One thing I did was go through a big pile of my stuff from when I lived at home. My family found it all while they were deep cleaning the house and re-doing it. They put new carpet in and painted three bedrooms.
This was a picture I drew in my drafting class in high school, my mom still thinks I should be an architect.

William was playing with Colby and just started crying. I couldn't even console him. We were looking at pictures and he found one of Richard. So we let him hold it. He was just looking at it and talking to it.
I think William missed his daddy.

Richard and I always make this sign to each other when we leave each other to go anywhere. So we texted back and forth each night before we went to bed. (Cheesy, I know).
I love you.

ON OUR WAY TO THE BEACH:
We went to the beach and it was a really good day. I have more pictures I can post later of while we were at the beach, but I thought these were cute.

BED SPREAD:
We went to Kohl's one day to find my mom and dad a new bed spread because they just got a new LARGER bed. California King. Yee-haw!

BUMBO SEAT AT ANNA'S:
We had lunch with Anna and Jeremy (and Anna's sister Jessica, and my two sisters). We went to Souplantation (awesome!). Then we came back to Anna's and just chatted for a little while. And William tried out Jeremy's old Bumbo seat. He LOVED it! We may need to get one. Although his thighs are kinda thick...they kept getting stuck.

We also went swimming for a little bit. It was fun to spend time with an old friend. I wish I saw Anna more often.

WALK TO SEE GRANDMA AT LIBRARY:
William loves riding in his carrier thing. We went on a walk from the house down to the elementary school to see my mom at the library. She is the librarian at the elementary school and needed a little help organizing books to get ready for the kids to start coming in at the beginning of September. She is a WONDERFUL librarian. I hear it from everyone.

SITTING UP AT HOME:
He is starting to enjoy the freedom of sitting up on his own.

DISNEYLAND:
Fun, yet tiring day. William was definitely excited and ready to go. I think this is one of the cutest pictures I have ever taken of him. LOVE IT!
"I am ready to go mom!"

We went on "It's a Small World" and of course William loved it. He couldn't stop staring at everything.

We went and visiting Minnie's House.
Minnie's bed (with Bailey) and Minnie's chair

Taking a bath in Minnie's sink (I think he is a little too big)

We also went through Mickey's house, and we didn't even know, but Mickey was there. So we got to see him.
Steamboat Willie

William got really hot, and in my attempt to cool him down, I gave him a really cold water bottle from the cooler. He LOVED it. He sucked on it, and I even got him to drink some of the water.
Hot day, cold water!

ON WAY HOME FROM CALIFORNIA:
We stopped at Long John Silver's on the way home. It was in Barstow! California's armpit. Anyway, we stopped because Jenn loves it, and they don't have them in Utah. They had these really cute pirate hats! Fun!
"I threw boring overboard at Long John Silver's"

We had a really fun time and I am glad that we went. It was fun to see my family. It was the first time I had gone to Disneyland since I was in High School. And I got to see old friends. And William got to meet a lot of new people. He was a champ!
It did take a few days to get him back into the groove of things once we got home, and we were sure glad to see dad in St. George on Saturday. William was super excited to see him! At first he looked a little confused and then it dawned on him and he started smiling and giggling at Richard. I love my baby, and I love my husband. Thanks honey for letting us take the trip even though you couldn't go. You are a champ too!

4 generations

So I have been on vacation in California, visiting my parents and siblings, and having a marvelous time! So sorry I haven't posted for a while.
We had dinner with Richard's dad and Richard's grandpa (since they were up from St. George), just before I left to go to California. It was enjoyable, and grandpa even paid for dinner. He says, "I have all this extra money and nothing to spend it on, I might as well spend it on people I like!" haha. We love him.
And here is a picture of 4 generations of men.

grandpa, daddy, william, and great-grandpa

Great-grandpa is actually grandma's dad, so it isn't quite biologically 4 generations, but close enough!
I will be posting about California soon, I promise. This thing is like my diary and if I ever want to remember it, it is going to have to go on here! So watch out for a nice long post, telling about our weeks adventures.

sleep moving?

So I put William down for a nap on the floor in one of the bedrooms at the home I babysit at. And I did know he wiggled a lot while he slept, but this just shows how much he moves when you give him the room to do it! (his crib isn't big enough for him to do this!)

And there you have it! My son is really good at moving in his sleep!

6 months

This is a little late, but here it is...better late than never! That seems to be my theme these days.
William went to his 6 month appointment last Friday, and in addition to some nasty shots (which he did very well with), I was reported to have grown! Quite a bit!

August 06, 2010
Height:28.5 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 20 lbs. 1 oz. (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 45.6 centimeters (92nd percentile)

Here is a little "fashion show" for you...William style!

The things I do:
*mimick everything mom and dad does.
*move myself around by rolling or pulling my bum with my feet
*roll both ways, VERY WELL
*sit up
*put my own pacifier back in my mouth
*fall asleep in my crib, when I am put down for a nap or bedtime
*listen to stories (books or made up)
*love to laugh
*sing with mommy and daddy
*stand up against the couch
*play peek-a-boo, and I laugh really hard and make mommy and daddy laugh really hard too
*my hair is slightly growing, slowly but surely
*eat solids really well including oatmeal, rice cereal, bananas, peaches, and applesauce so far. Sometimes daddy gives me chocolate pudding.
*do well with babysitters
*keep myself entertained
*LAST BUT NOT LEAST: I am a side sleeper. Once I am put down for a nap or bedtime, I just roll to my side, usually grab my favorite bear and blanket, and fall fast asleep!

Seconds all around!

So William attended his second family reunion, the Heward Reunion, since he already went to the Wilson Reunion at the end of June. And William also recieved his second tooth! Yeah, his first one came in while seeing my family for the Wilson Reunion and his second came in this weekend while we were at the Heward Reunion (my mom's family). So William has been grumpy the last two times he has seen my family.
But its all good. We are going to Cali in a week, so they will see plenty of his happy face.

William was sleeping, but I didn't get my camera fast enough. They were taking a nap together. Grandpa and his only grandchild!
