Sitting UP!
Yes, William is sitting up WELL on his own. Yeay for my little boy! We are so proud of you.

Rodeo...and lunch with friends!
So last weekend, we went to the Ute Stampede Rodeo down in Nephi, Utah. It was a blast. We saw barrel racing, bronco and bull riding, motorcycles, funny clowns...etc, etc, etc. We really enjoyed ourselves. And we enjoyed seeing Christi and Patrick and their 5 kids. Thanks to the Franks for inviting us! We had a blast!!!
I know this picture isn't too great, but I couldn't get a closer one. Sorry! But it proves we were there!
And yes! Despite the noise, William was able to fall asleep.
Last weekend I was also able to see my friend Annie and her fiance, and we had lunch with them on Saturday. That was fun, and exciting to see them. They will be getting married in less than a month.
And we also had dinner with Josh and Michelle on Sunday. Our hometown friends! Thanks to them for a wonderful dinner and fun times. They are our new babysitters! haha!
Thanks to everyone for all the fun, we had a great weekend, something we needed. And william had a lot of firsts! First rodeo, first time meeting Annie, and first time in his new carrier! (Pictures to follow!) He is getting so heavy these days that we are starting to carry him in this front or back pack. It is so fun! And William LOVES it!

something you won't care about, but i thought was funny
So a couple weeks ago we were making breakfast for a big group of people and we were making lots of bacon. Deciding that I didn't want it all cooked in the house I rallied up my troops (namely Richard) and cooked the bacon on the grill outside. Well some of the grease dripped down into the grill. So when we lit it up last night and started cooking ourselves some good burgers, this was the result:

observation: mormons in the workforce
Just bear with me for a moment.
I use to work at the Center for Entreprenuership in the BYU Business School, so these "financial" articles really interest me. This was sent to me by a former co-worker from the Center and I would really like to share it with you.
It is written by James Crabtree from Financial Times magazine. It is entitled "The rise of a new generation of Mormons". Mr. Crabtree is not a member of the LDS church, but observed, toured facilities and gave interviews to find out as much as he could about how The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints works today. And it also talks about LDS members in the workforce and how "in demand" they are for their work ethic, honesty and integrity.
It is a very interesting article, and if you have 15 minutes to spare (its a pretty long article), enjoy this good read. It will also update you on how prominent our LDS faith really is in the workforce of the United States and the world.

william's blessing
SO...I know this is late. But I never posted pictures from his blessing. I thought I still should, even if it is late. Everyone likes some good pictures. Right?
So, for a bit of the story. He was happy all through sacrament meeting. He didn't cry at all during his blessing. He was all smiles when Richard showed him off to the congregation. But as soon as we got home, he decided he was done. He didn't like the picture idea. So he isn't super happy in any of these photos! And you really can't tell what his blessing outfit looks like. But none the less, here they are! And these are not all of them yet, I will probably add more to this post when I have more pictures.

I want to thank all of our family for coming and supporting us in the blessing of our little William.
And I want to thank my husband. I am so proud of him and that he is worthy to hold the priesthood so that he could bless our baby boy. He spoke so fluently and beautifully.
And I want to thank our Heavenly Father for sending this beautiful child to our home, and giving us the wonderful and amazing opportunity to raise him. William is so wonderful.

a toofer!
My baby boy, oh, my baby boy! He got his first tooth today! Yesterday it was trying, trying so hard to poke through and today, sure enough! There it is! Very small corner of his tooth poking through his gums!
No wonder he has been loving his chew toys (sounds bad, like a dog or something)...but that is what it is! He has been drooling, he has been up-chucking, he has been more fussy than usual (but is still a very happy boy).
And tonight he is sleeping, thanks to Infant Motrin!
My baby's first toof! his toofer is poking through! My growing boy. My good growing boy. My good little growing boy. My happy good little growing boy! You are the best! I love you!

way to go, bro!
Colby finished up at JO's (junior olympics) on Tuesday and they flew home from Texas yesterday. They finished 9th in the nation, and 4th on the west coast. That is pretty awesome! Way to go, bro! Love you!

happy 5 months, my baby boy!
My amazing baby boy is growing so fast. He is 5 months already. I can't believe it. And he is learning so quickly. He is so smart!
Here he is sitting up. With the use of the boppy pillow, yes! But sitting up none the less.
He is almost 20 lbs and he is a little more than 28 inches long. GROWING!!!
And oh, the things he can do:
-sticks his tounge out at us, especially when we do it first.
-likes to imitate our laughs
-he is ticklish EVERYWHERE and has a cute little giggle when we tickle him
-he entertains himself well by talking to himself
-loves his new bear that he sleeps with
-SITS UP (but also goes from a slightly laying position to a sitting up position)
-makes rhythmic sounds when we sing to him
-has a death grip on everything
-can grab almost anything he wants
-stands up against the couch (has strong legs)
-is slightly attached to his mommy and daddy
-can almost put his own pacifier back in his mouth, except when he doesn't want to, and pulls his pacifier out on purpose so that he can stick his thumb in his mouth
-turns his head wherever he wants to see things all around the room, both when he is sitting up and laying down
-rolls easily from his front to his back
-rolls easily from back to side...(almost can get on his front, but not quite)
-loves to Skype with grandma, grandpa, and his aunts and uncle
There is probably more, but this is all I can think of right now. He is an AMAZING little boy, and I am so proud to call him my son.

new trick
He LOVES to stick his tongue out at us. It's his new favorite thing. Especially when I try to kiss him. "No more kisses for mommy!" I believe that is what he is saying to himself as he is doing it.

ming ming
My friend Jenn just got a new dog. A cute little yorkie. She has always wanted one, and the opportunity presented itself and she got one for a VERY GOOD price. He was the runt of the litter, so he is extra small. He is so cute. They named him Ming Ming.
William has a little experience with cats (except we gave ours away, since he kept jumping up into William's crib), but he has had NO experience with dogs. THIS WAS A FIRST! We put Ming Ming up on William's lap and he was snuggling up to the bubby. He loved the warmth of William, so he just laid down and slept on William's lap. William loved it.
So in these pictures he just looks like a black and brown spot! But cute none-the-less.

We love this little dog. And we also love that we get to leave him at Jenn's and go home at the end of the day!

observation: freedom
So you are saying to yourself, "how appropriate". The 4th of July, and she wants to talk about freedom. Why, yes I do.
I appreciate those who fight for my freedom. Iraq. Afganistan. And those who have fought for our freedom. Persian Gulf. Korea. Vietnam. Europe. I appreciate the freedoms we have, that they fight for. Religion. Speech. Bearing Arms. And I love that I have the freedom to schedule what I want, when I want to. I love that we aren't bogged down by rulers who tell us what to do each day, hour, and minute of our lives. I have to freedom to get married to whom I want, when I want to and where I want to. I have the freedom to have as many babies as I want to.
So now I am going to talk about my favorite freedom. Religion. Freedom of Religion. I have the freedom to choose what religion I want to follow. Which church I want to join. And I had the freedom to join it when I wanted to. I have the freedom now to choose the extent of which I follow my religion. (I am devout, I promise, I am just making a point). I have the freedom to worship where and when I want to. I have the freedom to love and worship my God, my Heavenly Father, as unconditionally as I want to. I have the freedom to follow the footsteps of Christ in whatever way I deem appropriate. I have the freedom to talk to whomever I want about my religion. I have the freedom to pray, and to read my scriptures. I have the freedom to donate my money as tithing to my church, and to donate to charities of my choosing. I have the freedom to be friends with whomever I want to. I have the freedom to love whomever I want to. And I have the freedom to raise my children in this AMAZING land.
I HAVE FREEDOM...and I love it.
