just another birthday!

So...Richard has his birthday yesterday. He got out of bed after me, and when he got up and came to the bathroom where I was getting ready I told him happy birthday...and he replied, "Dang, I prayed that you would forget!"


For those of you who may not know, Richard turned a big old 3-0- yesterday and he was slightly depressed about it. SO...I took the liberty of making it as fun as possible.

We did go to St. George this weekend where we were able to go to Tuachan and see Les Miserables for his birthday on Saturday night. On Saturday morning he went golfing with his two brothers and his cousin. He had fun doing that! And we were able to watch the BYU football game, where they barely won by A POINT! And on Sunday afternoon we had a birthday party and all but one of his siblings was able to come (Jannette lives in Alaska). So he had a good birthday weekend in St. George and thought I was going to leave it alone yesterday...haha.... think again buddy!
So it started with a note on his car. Unfortunately I wasn't on it enough to get something going on at his work, but they did announce his birthday over the PA system! :)

My mom did stop by and stay at our house this last weekend when we were not there and she left a little present for Richard. She was proud of it.
She also gave him a card!

I came home a little early and decorated the front room (very little, and very lame):

So I decorated, and while doing this I made a cake...his favorite...yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I made the cake and put it in the refrigerator. I called him and asked him to stop and buy his favorite kind of ice cream since he was on his way home...truely it was not a diversion, it really was easier for him to stop and get it on his way home than for me to leave to get it.

So he got home and he went upstairs and found my present, which was a BYU tie...something he has wanted for a long time. Good thing he liked it! And this card was included:

We went out to dinner for his birthday. We went to Pizza Factory and realized what a rip off it is. Way too much money for "not worth it" food. But it was good, and nice to be out and be able to have a fun conversation over dinner without the TV blaring in the background! :)

All of our friends came over around 8:30 and enjoyed Richards favorite cake and ice cream. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting and cookies and cream ice cream. You like my big 30 made with...yup you guessed it...30 candles! Yeay for me!

And you can see that Richard is wearing his BYU tie!!!

Richard also got a great gift from Josh and Michelle. They brought him two bowls and two cups that say BYU on them. For BYU Saturdays! Richard got excited that he has nice HUGE cereal bowls now! Thanks Josh and Michelle.

And Natalie and Philip brought Richard a wonderful card...Elvis on the front, and on the inside it says Happy Birthday! But it is one of those sound cards, so in Elvis' voice it says, "Happy Birthday! Have a hunka hunka burnin' cake!" We were laughing pretty hard.

And after all was done, we visited for a while and then the party was over! We had a grand time! Happy Birthday Babe!

are you thinking what i'm thinking?

Yes! The twilight special at One Man Band Diner is AWESOME!
So...Does this dound familiar to any of you? Those of you that live in Utah and have seen a movie in the last year, this is a regular commercial. A boy and girl on a date, sitting in a car, and the girl asks with a little smirk, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" and the boy replies with far too much enthusiasm, "Yes! The twilight special at One Man Band Diner is AWESOME!".
So on our date last night Richard and I decided we would go try this so called twilight special at the One Man Band Diner. We were in Payson so we stopped in at that one. When we finally figured out what to do, we sat at the table and looked at the menus. But lo and behold, NO TWILIGHT SPECIAL, what the heck. Not that we really know what it is or really wanted it, but it was their advertisement, and they didn't even have it. So, just like an old diner, we picked up the phone there at the booth and Richard asked the "one man" what the twilight special was, and he said that they didn't have it there. Well, do they have it at other One Man Band Diners? I was severely disappointed...so we ordered other things, and it actually was really good.
So if you want a fun 50's night out with a jukebox and everything, and a place that isn't extremely busy, find the One Man Band Diner nearest you. Just don't ask for the twilight special. You know what will come of that...pure disappointment.

Are we showing off?

Haha! This is a great story. So for those of you who don't know, I am the Recreation Director at a Care Center, loving most of it! :) But this morning, just like every Thursday morning, I have meetings with Residents and their families to check up on Care Plans for the residents, etc., etc., etc. Well this morning we were in a hurry and walking past residents and after waiting for one family to come (and they didn't) we walked away, rather quickly. And when we got to the end of the hall, Megan (one of the SW's), asked the other two of us, "Do you sometimes think that when we walk down the hall quickly like that, it is like we are showing off?" Confused, we looked at her and she continued, "you know like, we walk so quickly when these people are in wheelchairs, and first of all can't walk, and secondly can't go as fast as we do. Like Betty (resident name has been changed) down there had been working for 5 minutes and only got 10 feet, and then once we feel like leaving we just blast past her!" I couldn't help but laugh! :)
But it does get you thinking...

And a month after that...and another cat!

We just celebrated being married for 4 months, yeay for us! We have had a lot of fun going down to Oak City for Oak City Days, and seeing McKensie and Caleb and family. We have been to another family reunion. I went home this last weekend to one of my really good friends weddings, she was beautiful, it was beautiful and it just reminded me of how great it is to be married. I was gone for three days and it was the first separation that Richard and I have had since we got married. IT was a little harder than I expected.
Then Monday as I was leaving work Richard called and said that he was at Wal-mart getting our fat cat some food, and there were free kittens there. He wanted one so bad, I could tell, and I didn't know if I did. Oh man! But in the end...and I don't know how...I gave in! So here we are. One big, fat, three-year-old, 22 pound cat and a little 11 week, weighs nothing kitten. They are still getting use to each other, Pig (our big fat cat) loves to swat at Tiger (our kitten). He wrestles her and she puts up a good fight, and he eventually gives up. But he is successful and chasing her away from her kitten chow so that he can eat it. So she is barely getting enough to eat and he is gaining weight...I am sure of it. The only thing I am having a hard time with, is that the cat doesn't sleep through the night, she wants to play ALL THE TIME! But as my husband mentioned...her not sleeping through the night is just like having a baby. Mmm, Hmm!
SO life has not been dull around the Beers household. We had FHE with Josh and Michelle on Monday and were able to go to a party last night with some friends from the old work place. IT was fun to see all of them!
I am sorry I haven't kept up, I am going to try to be better. I will get some pictures up too! It is just that work has been stressful, I have been working without assistants and I am ready to cut my head off! :) Loves to you all!

so..two weeks later.

Hello friends...there is a lot to catch up on. We have been to Bryce Canyon and down to Manti for the pageant and also to Hawaii. Life has been a blast. The Bryce Canyon trip was wonderful because it was a Wilson Family Reunion. It was the first trip Richard and I were taking since we got married, our first camping trip might I add. But it was super duper fun! We had a good time.
We were also able to go down to Manti to the Pageant. One of my best friends from home, Josh, had family in the pageant and the family lives there, so we went with Josh and his girl friend Michelle and stayed down at his familys house after the pageant. It was great. Going to the pageant has become a tradition for Richard and I and our future family. We went on a date to the Manti pageant last summer and that is where I recieved my first kiss! :) How lovely.
And Hawaii of course was amazing. Spectacular even. We had WAY TO MUCH FUN! We parasailed, we did a lot of snorkeling, we went to Molokini Crater, we swam with sea turtles, we went to a luau, and were able to learn to dance, and had a fabulous dinner. We found the first church building that was built on Maui by the first missionaries (George Q. Cannon was one of them, and Richard is a decendant of him, so it was special). We ate at a very expensive restaurant but I had the best Mahi-Mahi I have ever had. It was just a blast. Beach babes paradise. Growning up in Cali was amazing, but Hawaii has so much better beaches, warmer water, better sand! Mmmm...I loved it and can't wait to go back.

so much to do...so little time!

The title is only referring to my blog here! I was tagged by Jessica, and she wants me to write all my joys and woes...or whatever on my blog. And I just got back from a family trip to Hawaii which I would love to write about. Oh, and the 4th of July (on of my favorite holidays and it was quite lame this year). OH and we got our wedding video in the mail...so fun...way to go Leesa!!!! And I am sure there are other things. And since there are other things besides writing on my blog that are important in my life...you will have to deal with some of these other things being late!!! Thanks for your cooperation! :)

The weekend of crazy hectic fun!

So we had a fun filled weekend. We were able to go down to the Manti Pageant on Friday night with two of our good friends, Josh and Michelle. And Josh's cousin lives in Ephraim and her family was all in the pageant, so that was fun. We camped out in her backyard on Friday night after she filled us with root beer floats and kept us up until 1:30.
We woke up Saturday morning about 9am when we no longer could sleep because the sun was beating down on us. We went inside and Kristi had made us breakfast. Wonderful eggs and toast, and she was attempting to make hashbrowns which didn't turn out! Oh well.
We left, and on the drive home Josh decided we would stop in Fairview and go to their little museum...which was a little po-dunk, but actually was pretty neat. They had history of the town and surrounding area, they had artistry from people who live around there, rocks that had been found in utah (rare...and not so rare), and really old, really neat newspaper articles.
The newspaper articles were my favorite. My favorite newspaper article was the one that talked about the lady who had 12 of her sons in the service (different branches of the military) all at the same time, anywhere from ages 22-38. And she had two more sons that she would also send out. I thought that was really neat...14 boys in all, all her sons...and all were serving or going to serve our country! Talk about neat! WOW!
Then we drove on and stopped by the side of the road. Now you will know what I am talking about here if you have ever driven from the north, down to Manti. There is a swamp, and houses that are half sunk in the mud. Yeah, that use to be a town called Thistle. Of course my sweet hubby, Richard, knew all about it, and Josh just gobbled it up! So we stopped and took pictures next to that half sunken houses! :) What joy!
AND...of course Richard started talking about a dam and all this stuff and Josh had to find it. So we went off-roading and found ourselves at a shooting range...where we were not suppose to be! :) eeek! We were asked to leave, unless of course we wanted to sign a waiver and do some shooting...no thanks! Not now!
So we got home and as we were unpacking Josh found the marshmellow guns that he had forgotten to get out while we were in Manti. So we had marshmellow wars, Richard, Josh, Michelle and I, around a few buildings in our housing community. So much fun! Richard and I are definitely making marshmellow guns for ourselves! YEAY!
After Josh and Michelle left, we took everything in and got ready to go swimming with Mariah and Luke at Alta Apt. and it was so much fun. We swam for a couple of hours, playing basketball and racing up and down the pool. Then we got ready at our friends apartments and went to Target! We ate at the little eatery and got a wedding card, and found our way to our friends wedding reception. We saw a lot of old friends there, so that was fun! Stayed for about an hour then made our way home. It was about 8:30 by the time we got home. Mariah and Luke met us there and we went to see GET SMART! And we really liked it.
It was a lot better than we expected...I had gotten some negative reviews from friends, so had my mind set that it wasn't going to be that great! It was wonderful...at least Richard, Luke and I thought so...Mariah? well...maybe not so much!

Natalie and Phil got married!!!

So Natalie and Philip got married on Saturday! Yeay! And Phil absolutely DID NOT want anyone to decorate his car. He loves it too much. So he had made his sisters and their husbands promise that they were not going to do anything to it. Well, he had not made Richard and I promise. But no one would "flat out" tell us where they were staying, so we did some research. We knew they were staying in St. George, and there are only a handful of hotels that are nice enough for Philip's wedding night! :)

So we called around and finally found the hotel where they were staying. We drove up to the hotel to make sure that the car was there, and when we found it, it was parked right in front where I am sure he thought he could keep an eye out for car decorating offenders! But he didn't catch us.

We went about 11:30 and decorated his car, windows were written on with window paint, with such phrases as "Just married, oh yeah baby", "You got punked" (this was my personal favorite since he didn't want us to do it...we pretty much punked them!), "Baby on board", "Hot new couple", and "We love you". We also covered the car, well a lot of it, in post-it notes. We used all of them and only covered the top half of the car. And we had debated at the store whether to buy one package or two...dang!

We would have went back to the store and got more, and come back...but there was a dog in the car next to us that kept barking. It was SO annoying. Why would they leave a dog in the car anyway. And those people, when they drove up, said "I don't think that is such a good idea, that is too bad!" They said this to us, referring to us decorating the car. Richard and I got a kick out of that!

But there were a few people/couples that walked by that said things such as, "wow! what a good idea, we should do something like that", "that is awesome", "good work guys", "way to be sneaky!", and other fun comments!

We finally finished just before midnight. We drove off, pretty proud of ourselves, and expecting to get a call on Sunday morning! No call came, nope. Richard recieved a text message from Phil at about 8 p.m. Sunday night. "Someone owes me a supersonic car wash". That is the first time that they had found the car...8 pm the next night! Room Service?

Crazy week...

It has been a crazy week this week. Every day at work has been really busy, or dramatic, or something else...at home things have been crazy with Richard starting a new job, things not going quite as planned, our little pregnancy scare, etc...
I am really excited to go to St. George this weekend! We are going tonight and we will come back on Sunday. A good long weekend, it is what Richard and I need. It will be so good for us. And...we get to watch Richard's little nieces and nephews on Friday night while their parents take a night off! That is going to be fun too!!! Wahoo...yeay for a good ending to a crazy, insane, stressful week!

yeay for weddings!

So Phil and Natalie are getting married on Saturday. Phil is Richard's cousin and Natalie was my roommate this last year. They met because Natalie came over to Richard's with me to watch a football game, and Phil was there (they were roommates). Anyway, I am really excited for them to get married. They are great! And we are going to have a fun time being two newlywed, married couples who are cousins. hehe! I love cousins.

Congrats to my new cousins...yeay! I love weddings!

My baby brother Spencer Colby is graduating from Jr. High (8th Grade), today! Congrats little bro, you get to go to High School now! You are the greatest! I love you!

My little sister Breann ("Bree") is graduating from High School tomorrow. Congrats Bree! I love you! And she is going to BYU-I starting in the fall to go to school, I am so excited for her! Yeay!!!

that is what dreams are made of...

So I had some really funky dreams last night, two right in a row that were very similar.

Background: Richard let the cat out quite a few times last night, before we went to bed, so all the cat was doing was whining about how he wanted to go outside again. We wouldn't let him out anymore because we were getting ready to go to bed. Once we got into bed he kept whining about how he wanted to go outside.

These dreams took place in the house we live in now, in Spanish Fork.
So one, I was sleeping and woke up (in my dream) because the cat was meowing and was walking into our room, followed by a baby girl crawling after the cat. I was curious to find out where the baby came from, so I got out of bed and looked across the hall, and there were my cousins, one just had a baby girl not too long ago, and her sister. So I went to go talk to them.
Then the same exact dream happened but it was a little boy following the cat. I looked across the hall and there were a group of my friends, and one of them just had a little baby boy.

What are these dreams suppose to mean. Two in one night, I wake up to a baby crawling into my room. They are my friends/cousins babies...but...

something to post!

I wanted to post something...but I don't know what to say. I could talk about how our cat has become a spoiled brat, or how we take a walk everyday down the railroad tracks, or how my job is getting less stressful everyday, or how Richard is trying to find a new job, etc. etc. etc. But none of that is interesting enough to write about. I could talk about how my sister Breann is graduating from High School in a week and I don't get to be there, or my brother is graduating from Jr. High and I don't get to be there, or Colby is getting awards for ASB and gets to be in the ASB class in High Schoo next year and I don't get to go the the ceremony, or Breann gets awarded to be an honor scholar and gets to wear silver robes at graduation instead of blue, but I don't get to be there...but that is all depressing and no one wants to hear about that!
So I decided I would post some of my wedding photos for your enjoyment...it will be the next post!

Yesterday...the 25th of May!

So Yesterday was not only our one month wedding anniversary...yes we have been married a month...but it was one year since we went on our first date. Yes, our first date was 25th of May, 2007. It was pretty much up hill from there. Couldn't stop it! Within two weeks we were exclusive and then 11 months to the day after our first date, we were married! April 25th 2008!!! Life is so grand, married life couldn't be better!

Oh dang. I totally missed.

Happy birthday sister girl. You are amazing and I love you bunches and bunches. I do have to say that we enjoyed sending your card to you and also...you and Richard talking last night was a hit. We love you very much, and Richard is glad that you are his sister...even if he never will fess up to it...and calls you a "brat"...he loves you! And I love you and am so proud to call you my sister. I can't believe that you are 18 years old. An adult...all grown up! You can VOTE! oh man!

So last night when I asked Bree if she felt any older now that she was 18, she said, "Yes, in fact I do, I feel a whole lot more mature"...of course she started laughing, so did I! It was good!

my dad is good lookin'

Oh my heck! This had me rolling on the ground. I told my dad this story yesterday and he was laughing too...

So, I had one of the residents at my care center come into my office becuase she wanted to borrow one of our movies. So I had the door open and she was looking at movies. Another one of the residents walked by and she decided to poke her head in and say hello. When she looked over to the other side of the office, there was my computer. Now, when I don't use my computer for a while it starts up a screen saver of all of my photos. I have a few pictures from my wedding on my computer that family and friends took. So a picture of me in my dress came up and all of a sudden they wanted to see them all.

So I started showing them the pictures that I had. There was one picture where it was me and my mom and my dad and Richard's mom and dad. But one of the ladies asked if those were my parents and siblings. (Refering to Richard's parents as my parents and my parents as my siblings). "No, these two (pointing to my parents) are my mom and dad and the other two are Richard's parents". She said "oh? they (refering to my parents) looks so young". Then the other lady said, "your dad is very good looking", so I gave a somewhat awkward "thank you". What else am I suppose to say?

Then one of the ladies said, "Well, if your mom died, he sure wouldn't have a problem getting remarried". And to that I said, "Oh, yeah, you are probably right". Can this get any more wierd!? Then the other lady said, "Yeah, if your mom died, I wouldn't mind marrying your dad".

The best was when I was telling my dad, he was laughing so hard, I swear he was crying. And while I was telling my dad, Richard was listening in. Richard said, "Well, maybe you should marry one of them, how much money do they have?"...oh yeah...then my dad said, "Oh yeah, like I am going to go say to your mom...'hey honey, um...i am going to leave you for a little bit and go make us some money'...I don't think so!"

Oh goodness, just a good day at work! Another perfect day in PARADISE! :) (where the old people make me laugh, constantly).

Pig's New Position

Our cat has decided that his favorite position to sleep, or just hang out, is spread eagle. He does this when he takes over our bed, and here in the picture he is doing it on the ottoman, meanwhile we are on the couch watching a movie. He takes over wherever he wants to and then he seems to fall asleep like that. It is funny to me that he likes to sleep like that instead of curled up in a little ball (or big ball, for him). Cats do not normally sleep or even "hang out" in that position. They might stretch like that, but nothing more. We find out more and more about our cat's funny habits everyday. Hehe! :)
